Chapter 1 - Trust Nobody

(Rico's POV)

"Man nigga I thought you was tryna be off that hood shit?" I asked Jason as he told me his plans for tonight.
"I am man, right after this. I promise. But my nigga I can't miss out on this cash. You know how that go." He replied.
"Shit I guess. I'll take you and all but don't expect me to greet these niggas. Because I told you I was off this type of business."
"Oh, most deff. I don't wanna get you caught up if shit go wrong anyways bro."
"Iight nigga. I'll come through around 7:30. I was gone chill with Aaliyah for a lit bit."
"Ok, that's cool. Good looking homie."
"No probs bro." I said as I shook up with Jason and we went our separate ways to class. Aaliyah wasn't here today because her mom wanted to spend some much missed quality time and take her shopping. And I was already missing my baby. But it's okay I'll see her sexy ass later. I might even surprise her with some Chinese food and some flowers, just because. I can admit this girl has turned me somewhat into a softie but I'll never let a nigga know that. I still got the heat in the car, in case I have to remind a nigga. But there's honestly nothing I wouldn't do for her. I truly am in love.


"Hey baby, are you home yet?" I asked as I spoke into the receiver.
"Yeah, I am why?"
"Just asking love." I responded busting a U-turn in the middle of the intersection. Cars began to blow behind me but I didn't care.
"Um, okay. What you doing?" She asked.
"Nothing much, just fenna pick Kalani up from school." I lied. "How was shopping with your mom?"
"It was cool, she paid for me to get a much needed fill-in and pedicure."
"Oh okay that's what's up bae. But um open the door." I spoke as I pulled up in front of her house. I then saw Aaliyah appear in the doorway with a pink sundress on looking beautiful as always.
"You're such a liar." She spoke laughing before she hung up and came outside.
"You betta put on some more clothes next time. It's mid October." I said as I opened the door and climbed in the back with her.
"Boy relax, it's still 75 degrees out here, and it's gorgeous." She spoke as she kissed me. Her lips felt so good and looking at her legs showing from her sundress made me instantly horny. "You missed me today?"
"Yeah I did baby, I was bored at school." I spoke as I began to rub on her thigh.
"What do you think you're doing?" She asked.
"Oh nothing." I responded kissing and licking on her neck. I then began to make my way up her dress to her panties and pull them to the side.
"Bae, did you forget we were outside in the car?"
"Oh yea, my fault. Is yo momma here?" I asked taking my hand out.
"Yeah, but she's sleeping right now." She responded pulling me back in for a make out session. Which was cool as hell with me.

After my brief date with Aaliyah, I was not looking forward to this "business trip" with Jason. I had a bad feeling about this shit.
"Nigga this gone be brief as hell. It's just a quick exchange and that's it. It shouldn't take more than 2 minutes. You can leave the car running if you don't trust me." Jason stated as we pulled up outside what appeared to be an abandoned warehouse.
"Iight nigga. I don't wanna have to pull the 9 out forreal."
"Relax, these niggas cool." Jason stated as he hopped out the car and walked up to the 3 dudes standing outside, apparently smoking. I watched out my side mirror as Jason negotiated with them, as we had done plenty of times before. I have to admit I do miss the street life, it made me who I was. Real shit. But my life with Aaliyah is 100 times better.
Jason began walking back to the car just as one of the dudes pulled out a gun and said "Say hello to Tony for us bitch." and then I heard 3 shots fired. I quickly grabbed my 9 from the glove compartment as I seen Jason hit the ground and the 3 niggas took off. I bust shots off in their direction, and managed to hit one of the dudes, as he hit the ground I quickly ran over to Jason to see he was spitting up blood. I dialed Aaliyah's number.
"Hello?"
"Baby, get Sonya & Catalina and get to hospital. I'll explain everything when I get there."
"WHAT HAPPENED?!" Aaliyah yelled.
"Jason got shot." I responded as I picked him up off the ground and managed to get him in the car. The saying is true you can't trust NOBODY.  

Prologue.

"Wheww I'm so freaking relieved I'm not pregnant." I spoke out loud as I looked at the negative sign on the pregnancy test. I immediately began to thank God because He knew I was not ready for a baby.  Let me call Rico and let him know the good news.
"Hey baby." I spoke into the receiver.
"Hey sexy." He responded.
"I'm pregnant." I spoke.
"WHAAAATTT?!" Rico yelled.
"Yeah I know right. I was just as shocked as you." I lied. I had to fight back the smile and laugh I was getting ready to crack.
"Damn, that's crazy baby."
"Yeah I know something even crazier." I said smiling hard.
"What love?" Rico asked.
"I'm lying to you. I ain't pregnant baby." I said laughing. But I didn't hear Rico laugh not even a little.
"Why would you do that to me?" He asked sounding angry.
"I don't know baby, I thought it would be funny. I'm sorry if I upset you." I responded feeling bad.
"It wasn't funny but it is funny that you thought I was mad." He responded now laughing.
"Ok, ok, I admit you got me baby. But that's what I get I guess." I responded.
"Yeah now let's get off the phone so we can get some rest." Rico stated.
"Ok, but before we get off I wanna let you know, my parents are coming home tomorrow so I want you to meet them. You can come home with me after school and have dinner with us. Since my parents are coming home it's only right we have fiesta bienvenido a casa cooked by yours truly." I responded smiling.
"Sure that sounds cool to me. I can't wait to meet the parents who birthed the love of my life."
"Awww." I blushed. "Sorry you couldn't have met them sooner."
"It's fine baby, I understand they are very hard working."
"Yeah that's true but let's get off the phone now and get some rest. Goodnight I love you baby."
"Goodnight I love you too bae." Rico responded before I hung up.

"Hola mami y papi. Te extrañé." I spoke as soon as I came into the door.
"Nosotros también te extrañamos." My mom responded.
"Who is your friend Mija?" My father asked eyeing Rico.
"Hola. Me llamo es Rico. Y Soy el novio de Aaliyah." Rico responded impressing my parents.
"Oh, so you know your Spanish aye?" My father asked.
"Sί , mucho." Rico responded.
"That's excellent. How long have you two been together?"
"2 1/2 months." I responded.
"Oh sorry we haven't met sooner. But my name is Angelina and this is my husband Nathaniel." My mom spoke holding her hand out for Rico to shake, as Rico shook her hand, my father did the same.
"Alright you'll have more time to grill Rico once I start on the dinner." I spoke walking into the kitchen. I could tell it was going to be a good night, they were already off to a good start.
